AEROSPACE ENGINEERING AT UT DALLAS

Overall Mission

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics has been expanding its presence on campus since its establishment in 2015. Our goal as an organization has always been to inspire and motivate engineers to pursue aerospace opportunities by creating a platform that ensures that members are able to engage in unique collegiate-level experiences.

Currently, we host the following platforms:

  • Design Build Fly

  • Research Aerospace Design

  • Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition

  • UT Dallas Drone Racing Team

  • Women of Aeronautics and Astronautics

  • Combining Aerospace Goals and Experiences Workshop

DESIGN BUILD FLY

The UT Dallas chapter Design Build Fly is eager to demonstrate our engineering and design prowess by competing in the 2020 AIAA Design Build Fly (AIAA DBF) competition. Our team of 34 driven and experienced engineering students are diligently crafting our next top-performing RC plane. Student teams will design, fabricate, and demonstrate the flight capabilities of an unmanned, electric powered, radio controlled aircraft that can best meet the specified mission profile. The goal is a balanced design possessing good demonstrated flight handling qualities and practical and affordable manufacturing requirements while providing a high vehicle performance.
